How to choose a consultant and how much does it cost?

A paid consultant is not always necessary. Sometimes it's a simple procedure that you can do yourself, like filling out a simple form.

Experience shows that new patients tend to hire a consultant in the first stages, and later manage on their own.

If you still decide to take a paid consultant, you will meet with several consultants and get price quotes from them, ask for names of recommenders and negotiate with the consultants. The price is not low: between 15% and 25% of the money received in most cases, plus 16% VAT.

Since these are amounts that can reach hundreds of thousands of shekels, carefully check the following details:

  1. Case opening fees
  2. The amount of the commission charged by the consultant is calculated as a percentage of the amount you will receive. It is important to explicitly state in writing (a) whether it is a gross or net amount (b) whether the price includes VAT or not.
  3. In the case of a monthly annuity, explicitly state in writing for what period you will be required to pay the consultant the certain percentage of the monthly annuity (a year? 5 years? 10 years?).
  4. It is advisable to list several examples in the agreement that will clarify how much you are supposed to pay in the various situations.
  5. Sometimes the contract states amount X in the case of settlement and amount Y in the case of a court order. Make sure that amount Z is also listed in case of immediate acceptance of the group/insurance. Of course, Z should be the lowest since the amount of work that will be required of the consultant will be the smallest.
  6. Last but important advice: insist on receiving the draft agreement before signing. This way you can examine it with ease and consult with other people.
  7.

Do not forget that the consultant is interested in an agreement with you just as much as you are interested in an agreement with him, therefore you are allowed to insist on the small details.
