Hyperhidrosis and Parkinson's
Excessive sweating and Parkinson's is a relatively common phenomenon in Parkinson's patients, which often causes great discomfort is a relatively common phenomenon in Parkinson's patients, which often causes great discomfort
In Parkinson's patients there is often a disorder in the functioning of the autonomic system which results in damage to the nervous control mechanism for sweating as well as changes in the regulation of blood pressure, or a disorder in the functioning of the digestive system.
The origin of the phenomenon is most likely in the dysfunction of the hypothalamus (the control center for internal heat regulation in the brain) which develops against the background of the initial degeneration process of dopamine cells and is aggravated by prolonged exposure to dopa. A new article published this year reported that in cases of sweating attacks, treatment with agonist preparations such as Parlodel, Dupergin or Pergolide can prevent the attacks. This response to treatment with agonist preparations proves that the basis of the sweating attack is a lack of dopamine in the brain.
