Why should I join as a member of the Parkinson's Association in Israel?
Currently, the number of people with Parkinson's in Israel is approximately 35,000. The average age for diagnosis of the disease is 65, but many people are diagnosed with Parkinson's at younger ages, starting at age 30.
The Parkinson's Association in Israel, which was established in 1993, works for the entire population of Parkinson's patients in Israel with the aim of assisting them and their families in coping with the difficulties of the disease and improving their quality of life. The association also works with the Ministry of Health to expand the services recognized in the health basket in order to expand the range of medical solutions.
The Parkinson's Association in Israel provides its members with a wide range of services free of charge or at a subsidized cost:
Telephone support, initial consultation help and referral to the appropriate agency therapist – The association operates a telephone "hot line".
- New contestant guidance and orientation program – The association provides support and personal guidance to new candidates – up to two years from the diagnosis of the disease. In addition, the association has developed the “Directions” program, which provides a supportive framework, built in a modular manner, so that each candidate can use the program’s services according to their needs and the stage they are in.
- Support workshops – The association runs several support workshops for newly diagnosed, young and advanced patients, as well as support workshops for the wives and partners of those dealing with Parkinson's.

- Representing and promoting contestant rights, promoting research and raising public awareness – inter alia:

The committee assists with letters of support regarding the medication basket; opinions in test cases against institutional rulings; voluntary lectures to volunteers and the patient community;

- Annual membership fees, a one-time payment (without an annual direct debit), are 280 NIS.
- Monthly membership fee of 25 NIS each month (continuous billing) totaling 300 NIS
- Membership fees in one-time payments between 1 and 5 payments are 280 NIS.
The association manages its activities through approximately 70 volunteers. It is recognized as a public institution (recognition of donations according to Section 46), registered as a non-profit institution (Melkar) with a quality mark for effectiveness and has a proper management certificate.
