  • The drug can be used as a first line treatment in the early stages of the disease

  • The above drugs are called dopamine agonists, they bind to the dopamine receptor and activate it in a similar way to dopamine.

  • In different doses, their activity is more prolonged than that of levodopa, and for some patients they may be more suitable than dupikar, sinemat or levoboper. The choice between treatment with levodopa or other drugs is very individual.

  • It is important to be under close medical follow-up in order to adjust the dosages, timings and combinations of drugs because over the years the nature of the disease changes and the side effect of drug treatment can appear after years. What's more, the initiation and termination of drug treatment requires a controlled gradualism

Advantages

It may have a good effect on the mood.

It is possible to maintain lower doses of levodopa for years and thus postpone and reduce the complications of levodopa treatment.

The drug can only be taken once a day in ER form.

There is no need to make sure to take the medicine on an empty stomach or wait half an hour before eating proteins.

Disadvantages

Considered to be less effective than the standard preparations of levodopa (Dupikar, Sinemat or Levobufer), especially in the advanced stages of the disease.

There may be more side effects especially in the elderly or in high doses.

Side Effects

In older age and in high doses mainly forgetfulness, confusion and difficulty concentrating, false hallucinations, nausea and vomiting.
Drop in blood pressure when changing position from sitting to standing.
Excessive sleepiness, sleep attacks. 
Edema in the legs.
